How To Clean Your Bass Guitar

When you own a guitar of any kind, it is important to clean it regularly. Here are some tips that will help you learn how to do this, so that you can keep you instrument in the best possible condition. Start by washing your hands, which is important even if you have only been playing on partycasino.com or reading a book. Fingerprints show up very easily on the wood and hardware of a guitar, so you will want to make sure that your hands are as clean as possible. Once you have done this, take an old cloth and some guitar polish. Spray the polish onto the cloth and work it into the fabric. Next, rub it onto the body and neck of your instrument, taking care to avoid the strings and fingerboard. This will remove any dust and dirt, leaving it looking wonderfully clean and shiny. The next step is to clean the brass and metal parts of your guitar, including the tuning heads, strap pins and bridge and excluding the frets and pickups. This is considered to be the hardware of the instrument and to clean it, you simply rub it with a dust cloth. This will keep it nice and shiny and if you need to remove more dirt, you can use a non-abrasive metal polish. The strings can be cleaned with a dry cotton cloth and if necessary, a couple drops of rubbing alcohol will work wonders. Keep liquids away from the pickups, as they are magnetic and do not do well with water. Clean these with cotton swabs if necessary, or simply replace them as needed. The wood of the fingerboard can be cleaned by wiping with a dry cloth and then working up to five drops of fingerboard oil into it. When dry, wipe the oil away. Clean the frets with a gentle jewellery polishing cloth, which already has the polish soaked into it. Take good care of your guitar and clean it regularly. If you do this, then it will last a long time and you will always be proud of its appearance.
